Announcements for 03-16-2020

Please report to your Homeroom class instead of ASAP today.

There will not be a track meet or practice tonight. Parents will receive communication through the Remind app or a Skyward e-mail.
All activities are cancelled, students should plan to take their bus, walk, or ride home at the end of the day today.
Students should plan to take home their books, PE clothes, band instruments, electronics, etc.
The GMS library is open today for books to be checked-out.
“Students, please do your best to actively focus and listen carefully to your teachers during class periods through the day. Each teacher will have important information to share with you about Alternative Learning activities they’ve been preparing for you through the weekend. These activities have been designed to help you continue learning until we meet again after our break."

Teachers will now show a short video to prepare you for your upcoming learning opportunities.

Attention 8th grade girls interested in trying out for High School Cheerleading: Tryouts will be held March 16th through the 19th.

All 7th and 8th graders are invited to the Space Jam Spring Dance tonight. Admission is $3. Don't miss the final dance of the year!

Builder’s club is having a raffle to benefit the Geneseo Humane society. The raffle will take place at lunches the week of the 16th and the winner will be drawn on Friday the 20th. Tickets are $1 or 6 tickets for $5. Some of the prizes include gift cards for local businesses, an Altitude Trampoline Park gift card, and iTunes and Steam gift cards. Remember to bring cash next week for a chance to win some awesome prizes.

Attention 8th grade boys interested in playing high school basketball. There is a meeting Sunday afternoon at 3:30 in the high school commons to discuss this upcoming summer and basketball next year. The meeting is expected to last from 3:30-4:30. Parents are welcome to join. Please do your best to attend and if you can't, please reach out to Coach Storm. Thank you.

Attention Contig Club: After some buzzer beating victories, we have our championship match set. On Monday, in the 6th grade computer lab, we will have Liam Coleman facing off versus James Mattews for the championship. We expect this matchup to be standing room only. 6th graders, come watch the championship match. We will project the gameboard on the "big screen." See you there!

Next week homerooms will compete in the annual March Madness Bracket Bonanza. Keep in mind that all outfits must comply with the school dress code. No face paint or hair paint. Due to testing, hats will only be allowed on Friday. Here are the days: Monday is Pajama Day. Tuesday is Green for St. Patrick's Day. Wednesday is Sports or Jersey Day. Thursday is dress like a Grandma or Grandpa Day. Friday is Hat Day! Good luck to all contestants.

Do you need to get work completed before the Quarter ends tomorrow? The counseling department will be supervising a morning study hall from 7:40-8:05 am starting Monday in the 6th grade computer lab. The study hall will be Monday through Thursday. Please see a supervising teacher before coming down.

Our first Contig tournament of the year has narrowed down to the Final Four. Congratulations to Liberty Brumbaugh, Liam Coleman, Boone Forsythe, and James Matthews for advancing. We will play Wednesday morning to determine who will be playing for championship. Others are welcome to come watch or play against other classmates just for fun.We will be doing another teams tournament so you may want to come to be practicing. See you there.

Congratulations to GMS's own Cooper Schaad, who qualified for the IESA State Wrestling tournament. He will compete this weekend at Northern Illinois University.
