Announcements for 05-17-2013

Attention Football Players: If you were on the varsity football playoff roster this past season and you have not picked up your football highlight film, stop by the athletic office sometime this week to pick up your DVD.

Attention All Harriers: Anyone interested in joining next fall's cross country team needs to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, before school @ 7:40 am or after school @ 3:05 in the health room. The meeting will be brief so please be on time. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Fredericks.

Free athletic physicals will be given on Thursday, May 30, 2013 in the High School Commons. Any student currently in 9th, 10th or 11th grade that is planning on participating in a sport during the 2013-2014 school year is eligible for the free athletic physical. This is a fast and easy way to complete the IHSA required annual physical. Stop by the nurse’s office to get the required form. Don’t delay get it today. Please return the form to Mrs. Rokis no later than May 28th.

Volleyball girls need to stop by the office to receive an updated calendar and a camp form.

Prom pictures taken by Photographic Arts may be picked up in the main office.

Seniors- Completed check out forms must be returned to the main office no later than 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21st.

ATTENTION SENIORS: Senior Final Exams on Monday and Tuesday will be in the library. The morning session will be from 8:00-12:00 and the afternoon session will go from 12:30-3:00.

Seniors: Graduation practice will be held next Friday, May 24th at 10:00 am SHARP. Please be considerate of your fellow classmates and be on time so we can begin as scheduled. If you are late, you will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

THESPIAN SENIORS! Due to a conflict the senior wall signing will take place after the banquet on Monday!

Please check with the main office to claim any lost and found items. All items will be donated after the last day of school.

Attention all PE students and athletes: If you have a PE lock that you are no longer using, please return it to one of the PE teachers as soon as possible. The cost for a lost lock is $10.00.

Attention Students grades 9-11: All lockers must be cleaned out before you leave for the summer. Items left in lockers will be discarded. Hallway locker padlocks are to be taken home and brought back when school resumes in August. Any padlocks left on lockers after the last day of school will be considered lost and you will be charged a $10.00 lost hallway padlock fee. Any students not returning in August, please turn in your padlock to Mrs. VanOpdorp at the attendance window.

Seniors, if you have family members or guests attending the graduation ceremony on May 26th that have special needs for seating or handicap accessible parking, please have them contact the high school main office to set up accommodations.

Attention Senior Girls: The Geneseo Rotary-sponsored music festival queen application forms are available in the main office. Scholarships are awarded for this pageant. Applications are due no later than graduation practice on May 24th.

Tomorrow is ride your bike to school day, please ride safely and follow all rules of the road for cyclist. 7:40am group photo outside in front of main office, see you and your bike there!

There will be a very important Thespian meeting Thursday after school in the auditorium. Everyone who worked in the Fall play and musical are invited. The meeting should only take 20 minutes.

Attention Seniors who signed up for Baccalaureate: There will be practice today during ASAP in the auditorium. Please report directly to the auditorium at the end of 3rd hr. Seniors are reminded that this year's Baccalaureate Service will be Sunday, May 19 at 2:30 pm. Seniors planning to participate must report to the high school library with their cap and gown at 2:00 pm Sunday.

When you are finished with your hallway padlock, you are to turn it in to Mrs. VanOpdorp at the attendance window. Each padlock has a serial number that has been assigned to you. Be sure you turn in the padlock that is assigned to you. If the serial number on the padlock you turn in does not match the serial number in our records, you will be charged a $10.00 lost lock fee.

Queen sang it best, "bicycle bicycle bicycle, I want to ride my bicycle" Well you can! On Friday! Ride your Bike to Work/School day! Meet outside in front of the main office with your bike at 7:40am for a photo!

Team Corn Detasseling is hiring for summer detasseling. Work with your friends this summer. There are local fields and pickup sites. Earn from $7.25 to $10.00 per hour depending on your ability. The season starts around July 10th and runs for 10 to 15 days. Available to anyone ages 12 & up. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Attention Juniors: Juniors who passed all Quarter 3 classes and did not receive any referrals 3rd quarter will be eligible for open campus lunch tomorrow. If you qualify, you will receive a lunch pass on Wednesday during your 1st or 2nd period class. The times of dismissing and readmitting are listed on your pass so make sure you familiarize yourself with these times.

The senior local scholarship awards program will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.

Attention Seniors: NHS, NTHS, Illinois State Scholars, and Top 10%, please look in your cap and gown packets for your Honors accessories and instructions.

Athletics Recognition Night: Tonight is Athletics Recognition Night in the auditorium at 6:00 p.m. We will be recognizing the senior 3 by 4 award winners, male and female athlete of the year will be announced, and a college signing ceremony will take place for those seniors that are playing a sport in college. Everyone is invited to attend so please come out and support Geneseo Athletics.

Attention students: We are in need of a Military Color Guard for graduation May 26th. If you have a relative that would be interested in participating in our High School graduation as Color Guard please contact Mr. O'Dell in the Assistant Principal's Office.

On Friday night the Leafs traveled to Dixon to participate in the rugged NIB-12 conference track championship. The varsity team placed a strong 3rd behind state 2A power Kaneland and 3A DeKalb and enjoyed a plethora of personal bests. Junior A. Marmion captured the Leafs only Gold medal in the discus with a winning toss to 173' 10". His throw broke the 24 year old school record by over 8 FEET. Great job!

COMPASS testing
Mrs. Tharp’s Transitional Algebra students took the COMPASS test again this morning.  The students took the test in the fall as a pre-test and then took it again today as a post-test to see how much they learned or grew in their math skills.
